I was out running an introduction to snowshoeing course for CNDo Scotland in the Drumochter hills today in some challenging winter conditions. We headed up towards Geal Charn exploring the techniques for walking in snowshoes as well as looking at route choice when using them. It was a great session and we decided to go for a summit following some surprised mountain hares up the hill. The conditions really came in with blizzards and whiteout conditions driving us to seek our lunch in the bothy bag before deciding to descend some really deep snow instead of a peak. It proved a great choice and we enjoyed some fantastic snow and views on emerging from the clouds. A great introduction to snowshoes!
