The forecast was 50:50 as to whether we would get a view today in the northern corries of the Cairngorms, but we were optimistic as we set off from the ski centre. I was out with Faris and Yazeed today enjoying a classic walk around rim of Coire an Lochain and Coire an t-Sneachda in the lovely spring weather. As we climbed up we spotted numerous grouse and Ptarmigan sheltering from the strong winds though as we turned and climbed up the snow fields to reach the plateau we were protected from the worst of the winds. It was very clouds and some rain was trying to dampen the day though as we continued around the cliffs there were breaks in the clouds to reveal some atmospheric views. We were able to dodge any hard snow patches making the walk fairly straightforward and on the final climb up Cairngorm it dried up so at least we were not getting soaked on the summit in the fresh winds!
After making good use of the weather station there was another clear spell for some pictures before heading to the Tarmachan for a hot drink and some shelter. It proved to be well-timed as the weather cam in again shortly afterwards. Our descent started in the sunshine before a very nasty squall caught us on windy ridge making for some unpleasant walking. It broke as we reached the car park to finish a god day out in the Cairngorms even if there would be some drying time required afterwards!
