The next day it was just Valerie and myself in Glencoe heading up Meall a’Bhuiridh and Creise hoping to dodge the heavy showers forecast for the afternoon. Another early start saw us climbing the steep slopes beneath the ski tow from Glencoe Ski Centre. It was already a warm day and we made good time up to the skiing area where there was a refreshing breeze. We had spotted lots of Dwarf Cornell on the climb along with white lousewort too. The summit was in cloud as we weaved up the broken slopes to reach it hoping for some more breezes though midges were present and we didn’t linger too long. Over the beautiful rocky ridge it was and we were soon on the summit of Creise with the views clearing out of the cloud. There wasn’t much movement of air so we wandered around until we found some for a spot of lunch to enjoy the views of Clach Leathad, Creise and Meall a’Bhuiridh. It was a hot walk as we retraced our route back to Meall a’Bhuiridh and got the views this time before heading down back to the ski area. We met the guys working on the mountain bike route on the way down and chatted about the development at King’s House along with their new access track. A very nice experience will be interesting to see the new look King’s House when it’s complete not to mention the improvements at Glencoe with the new access. It didn’t take us long to descend back to the car park for celebratory ice creams at the cafe. Not long after buying the ice creams the rain started pouring again! One more to go Valerie!
