Ben Cruachan is complex mountain with an array of peaks and rocky ridges making it one of the most dramatic Munros in the Southern Highlands. This is a two day guided walking event aiming to climb Ben Cruachan and its neighbouring munros.
Ben Cruachan & Stob Daimh
We will meet near the railway station at the foot of the mountain and climb steeply up to the Cruachan dam. After catching our breath we will head accross the dam and up to the rocky summit of Ben Cruachan. The route twists down a lovely rocky ridge with some easy scrambling along the way to Stob Daimh. Our descent is slightly more gentle to start with before reaching some boggy ground on the way back to the dam. Then it’s back down through the woods the way we came to finish at the car park.
Beinn a’Chochuill & Beinn Eunaich
The following day is slightly easier walking as we head along a good access track to start with on the way to Beinn a’Chochuill. A steady climb brings up up on to the ridge between the hills and we head to Beinn a’Chochuill first. Retracing our steps back along the ridge and continuing up Beinn Eunaich. It’s lovely walking on mainly grassy ridges. As we descend down the southern ridge the going is good until the final section back to the path when it steepens considerably. Once on the track it’s an easy walk back.
