The weather forecast looked mixed for the western highlands so Valerie and I had a quick change of plan and took a chance heading north to climb Ben Hope. After a warm night at the Tongue Hostel, which we shared with 3 climbers who were heading for Ben Hope looking at new routes we were feeling […]
I was out with Rob today hoping to head for Ben Macdui and return over Cairngorm if the weather and conditions would allow. We set off in some fresh snow from the Cairngorm ski centre and made our way out past Coire an Lochain to climb up onto the plateau. It was soon obvious we […]
I had a fantastic catch up with my friend Simon as we went out for a winter visit to Faindouran Bothy going from Glenmore via some deep snow. It was a fun adventure with a quiet bothy, whisky and banter not to mention a lot of trail breaking and a good deal of sunshine!

Headed into Coire an t-Sneachda before climbing up not the plateau and traversing Cairngorm coming back down via windy ridge. It was busy on the slopes and in the corries. The snow certainly has frozen though with a lot of […]
We just popped out for a wee snowshoe up Glen Banchor to enjoy the glorious deep snow everywhere at the moment. It was a stunning day and we wandered away from the main routes to watch some lovely mountain hares exploding out from the fresh snow!
I was out guiding for Steven Fallon Mountain Guides today taking a couple up their first mountain and we enjoyed a classic winter day on Cairngorm and even had the summit all to ourselves!
Just been guiding a couple of fantastic winter walks for Steven Fallon Mountain Guides up in the hills above the Drumochter Pass with views, snow and sunshine! There’s a write-up on Steven’s Blog!

It was a great couple of days out along the Kinloch Hourn road walking up the hills by Loch Quoich with some early snow and stunning views at times! I was guiding for Steven Fallon Mountain Guides and there is a write-up on Steven’s Blog and more photos too.
