Event Details

Ben Lui is one of the finest mountains in Scotland with it’s pointed peak visible for miles around. It is home to some wonderful wildflowers as well as a classic alpine winter gully and the views are phenomenal if you’re lucky enough to see them!

We meet up in the morning and leave some cars at the finish point and car share to the start. This means we can enjoy a linnear walk and tackle the river crossing near the end of the walk. If it’s in spate we can make the day slighty longer and avoid it. A good track starts us off taking us to a bridge and a steep pathless climb up Beinn Dubhchraig. There’s a path down through rocky ground before a steep climb up Beinn Oss. We loose a lot of height going down to the bealach before the big climb up to Ben Lui. The views are worth the effort and definitely a place to enjoy some food and drink if conditions allow.

A steep and rocky descent takes us down to easier ground and the short walk up onto Beinn a’Chleibh. We retrace our last climb back down to the bealach and descend into Fionn Choirein. Then we pick up the extremely boggy path down through the forest. By now you’ll be ready for something to eat at The Real Food Cafe in Tyndrum. Luckily we have to paddle over the River Lochy before the end so get a chance to wash our boots!

Distance: 20km Ascent: 1750m Time: 9-12hrs
